Yamji Karma

I am Vidit Gandhi, Founder of Yamji.com. After working for 14 years with various brands and startups, including running my venture FlashyVideos.com in India, it has been a great experience overall.

Having learned a new skill to launch a venture in California, USA. I extend huge thanks to Santa Clara University for the certification.

In my journey with my first venture FlashyVideos.com, I initially underestimated the power of networking. However, everything changed when I had asked burning question in mind, from my Mentor Michael Kovalich: How important is networking? He paused for a moment and then replied, ‘Networking – It is not just important. It is Vital.’

This is when I started to network in the United States of America. In the process of networking, I met some wonderful individuals, aspiring entrepreneurs, seasoned professionals, mentors, advisors, investors, and more. Despite our different backgrounds, we shared a common goal—to connect with like-minded individuals.

Networking isn’t just a social activity; it’s a ladder to success. Each encounter with the right person brings you a step closer to achieving your goals. However, it becomes easier if your intention to connect with others is pure, driven by a positive vision, and focused on creating meaningful impact.

One notable encounter was with Tony Marfella, who directed me to a platform for connecting with mentors. Through this platform, I met Michael Kovalich, who not only believed in my business idea but also demonstrated the power of networking by sharing his own experiences of regular networking meetups in Redwood City, California every Thrusday.

Expanding my networking efforts, I accepted an invitation from Teena Malani for a coffee chat. Despite being from the Gen Z generation, Teena, who studied at Carnegie Mellon University, showed enthusiasm for my idea of a platform aimed at personal transformation, particularly the concept of transforming from “bad to good.”

After a long discussion about my idea with Santhosh Devati, based in Los Angeles, he suggested a pivot. One thing I appreciated about his suggestion is ‘every action we take has consequences,’ which I found insightful. I respect his opinion and will incorporate this perspective into our platform as well.

Following that, I had the pleasure of meeting Moshe Mikanovsky, my esteemed advisor from the Greater Toronto Area, Canada. He is the first person I turn to for advise, resembling a Human GPT. No matter the query, I can rely on him for prompt and insightful responses.

After years of experience working with brands and startups, I’ve learned the importance of tracking business metrics and prioritizing planning, forecasting, and budgeting. Fortunately, I’m good at these, as well as in Tech, Marketing, and Sales. However, understanding Cap table was challenging until Paul Barsley from Palo Alto, California, helped me.

Emily Suryadi, based in Santa Clara, CA, inspired me with her work on women’s health. I suggested to her how our platform can help ventures like hers gain more visibility and trust through networking and making a social impact. She liked the idea and expressed enthusiasm to use our platform when it is live.

In another conversation, I had the pleasure of meeting Vivek Venkatesan, based in Illinois. Vivek shared his insights on how to assist non-profits more effectively. In turn, I shared with him the narrative of inspire, connect and making a societal impact—a story that resonated deeply with him.

Additionally, I interacted with Lôra Meyercova based in Florida, who is working on an education platform to enhance convenience for universities and stakeholders. She too expressed eagerness in using our platform to facilitate connections and contribute to the education sector’s improvement.

In addition to these enriching encounters, I had a meeting with Hillary Sarpong from Wiesbaden, Hesse, Germany. She is young and has a vision for networking as well. We had a common goal for networking; however, I shared with her that we are one step ahead of just networking. Although I didn’t disclose all details in our conversation, I loved the way she pitched everything about her venture. We even discussed potential collaboration opportunities and will definitely work on something together in the future.

A heartfelt thank you to the first 10 who believed in me and my idea. I invite all of you to join Yamji.com, share your journeys, and together, let’s create a vision for a better world. Meanwhile, I will be writing more blogs about my vision with Yamji.com – Why, What, How? Since I have been testing my idea on myself, I will share more experiences and insights on networking for social impact, focusing on Karma – Good Deeds, Honest Confessions, and Expressions. Stay tuned.
